Dog TIP! Long-Haired Dogs Get “Snowball” Build Up: How To Stop It

If your dog gets “paw-balls” or snowballs on their legs and tummy – you need to try these solutions!

There are many commercial balms and boots that work for the “Snowball” build up between the paws. Some dogs get them up the legs and even the belly. The more they are outside, the more the build up until they are hesitant to walk.

DIY tips to fix this:

– Have a small bowl of warm water at the door for “paw-balls” instant melt removal. Dip each paw and use a fresh cloth for patting dry so your dog doesn’t slip after.

-Use baby socks as “leggins”. You can cut the toe, so it slides over the dog’s leg trapping the long fur inside the sock, and preventing snowballs from clinging!

– Use an oil based substance on leg fur and paws before going outside. There is expense commercial balms, but you may also try Crisco, Vaseline or PAM spray to coat the fur prior to your outing.
