Our Story: Why We Care Deeply About Family Dog Wellness
Created by a family who experienced the challenges of caring for an aging dog while raising young children.
Titan passed away in the summer of 2014.
He was a deeply loved Weimaraner who grew alongside our young family through many important years of life. Like many families, we weren’t simply losing a dog — we were navigating the reality of loving a dog through aging, change, and everyday family life.
For a time, his loss left a deep emptiness in our home.
But Titan also gave us something lasting: a clearer understanding of what families go through when they are trying their best to care for a dog they love deeply.
The Reality of Loving a Family Dog
Whether your dog is:
- a senior companion slowing down
- a young, active dog in a busy household
- or a dog managing mild health or mobility changes
Most families share the same quiet uncertainty:
“Am I doing enough… or too much?”
We felt this deeply with Titan.
We wanted him active and healthy — but also comfortable, supported, and not overworked. Especially when it came to exercise, movement, and recovery, we often found ourselves second-guessing what was actually best.
When Care Becomes Guesswork
Over the years we tried everything we reasonably could:
- diet changes
- medications
- exercise routines
- hydrotherapy
- movement support
- wellness-focused care
But one challenge remained:
How do you truly know what is helping day to day?
Was he improving?
Was he resting well?
Was he getting the right amount of activity?
Or were we simply hoping we were making the right decisions?
That uncertainty is something many dog owners still experience today.
Why We Believe in Wellness Monitoring
We began writing our blog and researching canine health in 2009, focusing on:
- aging and mobility changes
- exercise and recovery
- hydrotherapy and rehabilitation
- quality of life for family dogs
We saw a common need across families everywhere:
More clarity between vet visits.
Why We Chose FitBark
FitBark stood out because it supports something simple but powerful:
Awareness in daily life.
It helps families understand patterns in:
- activity
- sleep
- movement
- routines
- long-term wellness trends
It does not replace veterinary care, scheduled check-ups, or professional advice — it works alongside them.
For many families, it provides something essential: daily insight that helps reduce guesswork and supports more intentional care decisions.
This is especially helpful for:
- senior dogs
- active family dogs
- dogs with mild health or mobility concerns
- busy households where subtle changes are easy to miss
More Than a Product — A Purpose
Our goal is simple:
To help families feel more connected to their dog’s health, wellbeing, and daily life.
Because small changes matter.
Because routines matter.
Because awareness matters.
And because the time we share with our dogs matters deeply.
