Weimaraners have Webbed Toes
Weimaraners are a German breed, bred for hunting medium game. They were bred purposefully to have webbed feet to maximize their hunting ability. So water would not be an obstacle in the field.
Although, classified as a sporting breed, many people incorrectly label Weimaraners as hunting dogs. They are sporting dogs with a great ability to hunt or point or do any “sport” that may utilize these skills. Weimaraner also love mental challenges like agility, if there is a swimming challenge in there – all the better! Having webbed paws just encourages the Weimaraner to be more sportive! Which they love!
They also love to wade in the water – any water up to their ankles or knees is very enjoyable for them to have a casual walk about.
Owner Beware: Weimaraners have very unique personalities. They are built to swim, many love water. Many do love to swim. But did you know that some of them hate baths?! Our dog Titan, loved the ocean, loved to wade in any body of water he could find. He loved to do his therapeutic swimming with his trainer, Tanya, but hated bath time!
