2 New Dog Breeds Accepted by The American Kennel Club in 2020

The American Kennel Club (AKC) announced January 1, 2020 – two new breeds have been official added to the roster! Each new breed has now achieved full recognition and competition ability as for the AKC. Argentinian Hunting Dog

One new breeds is the Argentino Dogo, from Argentina. Argentino Dogo is a large hunting breed, in the working category of the AKC. They are loyal, strong and courageous. Not recommended for first time dog owners because of their strength, energy and amount of training involved for obedience. They may make a good family dog for families with generally older children and adolescents who are quiet active and outdoors often.

Large Breed Argentinian Hunting Dog

Argentino Dogo is a mix of large breeds such as Great Danes, Pointers and Spanish Mastiff. They also have traits of Great Pyrenees, Dogue de Bordeaux, Boxer, and Bull Terrier.

The Barbet is a new French Water Dog breed whose heritage dates back to 16th century France. The Barbet is a medium sized dog originally bred to retrieve waterfowl. Barbet’s have a dense, water-resistant coat. They are family-friendly, loyal, and spirited dog.
